Hello Race Fans! NASCAR is Daytona Baby!
It’s Fern here to talk about what is setting up to be another Great American Race at Daytona! Yes its the Daytona 500! The Super Bowl of NASCAR and it will be live this Sunday February 23rd! It’s been a long wait and I’m super excited about this year’s Daytona because for the first time in over a decade car owner Richard Childress will be bringing back the beloved number “3″ car!
For those who may not know it, the last time the number 3 car raced in the Sprint Cup Series was when the late great 7 time Cup Champion, Dale Earnhardt raced that number 3 car in the 2001 Daytona 500. Unfortunately, that turned out to be his last race. Dale Earnhardt was involved in a deadly multi-car crash in turn number 4 of the last lap of the race. That was one of NASCAR’s saddest days in it’s history and one that I along with many others will never forget.
Who’s Driving the Number 3 Car?
This Sunday the number 3 car will be driven by Richard Childress’ Grandson Austin Dillon. Austin is a Sprint Cup Rookie this year who ran in the Nationwide Racing Series last year. Everyone is excited for Austin because he has qualified the number 3 car on the pole for this Sunday’s race! This years Daytona promises to be a good one with the new Gen 6 cars and 1/2 in increase in the rear spoiler height, should make for a very exciting race!
Everyone who knew Dale Earnhardt loved Dale and I can’t help to think that Dale’s strong love for NASCAR and his strong spirit will once again be riding with young Austin Dillon on Sunday.
I’m excited for young Austin Dillon and I’m especially happy for the fans that will once again get to see that beautiful Black number 3 car racing at Daytona this Sunday!
Wishing for an exciting and a safe race for all of the drivers and the fans in the stands!Enjoy the season folk and especially enjoy this years Daytona 500!
